Oh, the Kamisama Kiss feels. It's been the longest time since I've seen this anime. When I fist started I thought it would be some lame Magical Girl anime but honestly, this show had a kick-butt, albeit sometimes not the brightest, protagonist who said what was on her mind. The soundtrack is great and gets me and Anna singing every time. The romance is very mild, but definitely becomes something you ship further in. Despite how the opening makes it seem, this is NOT a a Reverse Harem. But it does have some characteristics of one. No, the protagonist does not have to choose between any of the guys because 1. None of them are actually interested except for one and 2. Her heart lies with one alone.
Summary:
Nanami Momozono is a human girl who's in a bad situation. In her father's debt, she is left homeless. That is, until she meets Mikage, an older man who sees her dilemma and offers to let her stay in the home he can no longer live in. Little does she know, Mikage was a Land God! He'd passed his God powers on to her. Now unassuming Nanami finds his shrine along with Tomoe, Mikage's former Youkai fox demon familiar who soon reluctantly becomes her own via a contract sealed with a kiss. But Master Tomoe refuses to help the likes of an average, ignorant human. An awkward friendship forms as the headstrong Tomoe protects her from opposing forces as well as her own ignorance while whipping her into the shape of a God worthy of his service.
Will Nanami prove herself to her doubters? Are any other guys going to express interest in the sweet but strong protagonist? Will she live up to the expectations of a Land God? Will she fall for Tomoe while doing so? So many questions...

Reasons to Watch:
- The Art
Okay, the style of this anime was a very typical FUNimation-ish style. For example, Deadman Wonderland (that is, especially with how some select eyelashes are drawn). Despite the fact that the protagonist has a constantly blushing face, the animation was pretty standard by shoujo anime.
It was very colorful and the character design was great. Some of the parts in the background weren't as realistic as the foreground, but it added to the overall picture as a fantasy world. Overall, everything art-wise was pretty solid and enjoyable.

- The Comedy
This anime, although I was skeptical at first, really delivered on its promise of comedy. Tomoe's constant scolding of Nanami, her ignorance of the magic world, and the fight scenes in this anime all contribute to the humor. As Tomoe gets ready to destroy certain creatures for their disrespect or attempted assault of Nanami, he makes some very offhand comments and glows with a raging fox fire that illuminates his awkwardly scowling face that's so obviously seething with hate. He's just the sweetest... Also, the fact that Nanami almost never heeds Tomoe's warnings of the world and it almost always comes back to bite her in the rear end, in itself is so entertaining.
- The Romance
Nanami is hurt and Tomoe prepares to nurse her wounds (which he definitely did not give to her—no matter how misleading this looks). |
- The Music
I can tell you now that there is almost nothing more fun for me to do in spare time than sing along to the Kamisama Kiss opening for both seasons, and even hum the ending. Even for the second season, while most of the songs remain the same, the opening is performed by the same group
The OST is very fun and lighthearted, while being easy to get stuck in your head. Look forward to these coming to mind while showering. Just a warning.
Overall, this anime was fantastic in our opinion and if you haven't already, check it out!
That's all for today. Hope to see you soon!
Love,
