Top 10 Anime for When You're Bored and Looking for a Good Laugh

Hey again!

Today on Dramanator, we're counting down exactly what I need the weekend after finals.

The top 10 anime for when you're completely bored, have no idea what to do with your life, and just want to be entertained.

Keep in mind that most of this list comes from the mind of a hormonal teenage girl, so there's an obvious bias to romance. Not a big deal though. Even if you're not a fan of the genre, I'd find it hard for you to not appreciate at least one thing on the list.

*~*(.10.)*~* Itazura na Kiss

Honestly, I haven't seen the anime, but I did watch the Kdrama and the Jdrama and it's not my

favorite storyline. This anime follows the clumsy, pretty dimwitted Aihara Kotoko in her attempts to win the heart of Naoki Irie, her genius schoolmate. When Kotoko's house is destroyed in an earthquake, the two are forced under the same roof. Although Irie has made it very clear that he would never, ever like her, Kotoko remains optimistic, and with his meddlesome mother, schemes to get him to fall for her. Sad, right? Prepare your palm and your face for this one.

*~*(.9.)*~* B Gata H Kei

With the full title being B Gata H Kei: Yamada's First Time, I feel like this anime was a joke. I literally watched the whole thing within 12 hours. No, it wasn't that good. It's just that once you get going, it's hard to stop. Basically, this anime is the tale of Yamada, a girl going into high school with a very twisted dream. To have casual...relations with 100 guys. Crazy right? What's even more crazy is her pursuit of the guy she wants to lose it to. Being the most beautiful girl in school, she assumes Kosuda Takashi, a guy just about as average as an average guy can get, would feel honored to...you know. But it's kinda obvious through her horrible attempts of seducing him, that he's just not that interested. Or is he... No he really isn't. But that won't stop her.

*~*(.8.)*~* The Wallflower

Ahh, The Wallflower. I'm pretty sure I watched this right after Kimi ni Todoke, so I was still fresh from the feels. This anime, also known as Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge, is about a strange young girl named Sunako Nakahara. This gloomy teenager is obsessed with horror and hides in her room all day

because she gets nosebleeds from anything beautiful. She's also the niece of a wealthy mansion landlord lady, who has a mission for her 4 young male tennants. They are to somehow make a well-mannered young lady out of Sunako before her aunt comes back from vacation. What could go wrong? This anime was very funny and the slightly developing romance between the two main characters is heartwarming enough to leave me hoping for a second season...which in the anime world, almost never comes.

*~*(.7.)*~* Baka & Test

With a main character as clueless as Akahisa Yoshi, you could only expect so much from Baka & Test as a serious comedy. Well, either way, the plot follows him and his high school friends after a placement test that they all flunked, in a world where you have an avatar that is a direct reflection of your grades on tests. Class A not only has skilled avatars, but also the equipment that comes with the class: flat screens, recliners, good teachers. On the opposite end, however, and where Akahisa is, there are broken tables, patched and deflated cushions for the floor, and a teacher that's pretty careless (there are also classes B, C, D, and E). This is why there are Summoner Test Wars. The avatars of those in one class fight the ones of the other and the winner decides whether or not they'll trade equipment. This is Akahisa's quest for Class A's luxuries.

Yay School Rumble! This is one of

my favorites (as my 2nd previous review says) and even now, when I've seen it, like, 3 times, I still laugh. Bad boy Kenji Harima is in love with cute sophomore Tenma Tsukamoto, who's in love with mysterious, yet princely, super musician Ouji Karasuma. This anime is crazy, dramatic, and tear-worthy. It's really like a roller coaster of comedy. Definitely worth it.

*~*(.5.)*~* Koe de Oshigoto

So I saw this on Misty Chronexia's channel under...hilarious anime I think. It was only 2 OVAs so, needless to say, I finished in one night. Let me just say now that if you are a child under the age of 13 and you don't want your childhood ruined, don't watch this. Now that that's out of the way, Kanna, a 16-year-old girl, is asked by her older sister to do voice acting for her eroge (if you don't know what that is, look it up). The situations she gets put in while trying to accomplish her duties as an actress are just too much. I doubt it was meant to be a comedy, but it's classified as that on many websites. If you're going to watch this, I'd either do it alone or with people that aren't made uncomfortable easily.

*~*(.4.)*~* Amnesia

Every time I hear the word now, I shake my head. Obviously, the main character, of no name, acquires "amnesia" when she faints on August 30th and wakes up with no recollection of her past or present. A boyfriend and friends at a job she doesn't remember are too much for her and with the help of a fairy boy that only she can see, she tries to make sense of the world she's in with only flashes of memories and a ton of details she cannot remember. Until she wakes up again on August 30th with the same people, only something's different. Then again, and again, each time, the world around her changes slightly. This doesn't seem like a comedy to the naked eye, but trust me, this is just about the 2nd most horrible excuse for a dramatic anime I've ever seen. Like, come on—the main character doesn't even have a name. That's what makes it funny.

  *~*(.3.)*~* Diabolik Lovers

Now for what's definitely the worst anime in the vampire, action, and drama categories. First of all, what's with the K in Diabolik?? This anime is total trash. My friends and I like to watch it and laugh our heads off. I would say no offense to the creators, but if you'd seen this, you'd know it's a total rip off of Vampire Knight and Ouran High School Host Club. It has a lolita boy, the strong and silent one, the cool guy with glasses, mischievous triplets, and a guy who's just obnoxious but will probably end up with the girl anyway. Tell me that's not Ouran. Bite your nails as the dumbest main character you will ever meet tries to escape a house full of vampire boys after her father sends her to their mansion because he obviously didn't love her anymore. Stay at the edge of your seat watching her run like a snail with limp wrists and flailing legs as she tries to get away from lightning-fast, hungry, hormonal teen vampires. They'll all hit on her mercilessly, then, inevitably, someone comments on her flat chest and dumb personality, earning her the nickname Pancake. Of course, they're right. Watch as they go to their stupid vampire night (hehe) school and one guy forces her too cook for him, then saves her from drowning like the idiot she is. Laugh while she tries to stop him from sucking her blood by baring her neck, closing her eyes and whispering, "please stop" yeah like that's what stops blood rape from happening. God, she is almost as bad as Kristen Stewart in Twilight. (*takes a deep breath while trying to calm down* sorry, Diabolik Lovers makes me angry. This s*** gets a second season but where you at, Ouran? Where you at?)

50% Off is not technically an anime. It's a YouTube series that's a dub parody of Free!. In this parody, which is actually really funny, Haru has some pretty obvious inner issues, Makoto is pretty gay for him and Nagisa is an escaped convict. Just watch it, ok?

My Bride is a Mermaid

Nagasumi Michishio is an average middle school boy. That is, until he almost drowns in the sea on summer vacation. Luckily for him, a cute mermaid saves him! Unluckily, though, he discovers that she's Sun Seto, daughter of a yakuza merman, and if their kind meets a human, one of the two has to die. So to save both of their lives, Nagasumi asks for Sun's hand in marriage.

Hikari Hanazono has lived her life always in 1st place, especially thanks to the training she receives from her pro-wrestling father. At a young age, she could take on any grown man, was amazing at school, and excelled at pretty much everything else she did. This changed when she was introduced to Kei Takashima, who brutally destroyed her at any competition they had. Now, growing up, they are the top two students in their school with him in first and her right on his heels, in a group with 5 other top students and they're known as S.A. (special A). It is Hikari's lifelong goal to beat the nonchalant at something...anything. When feelings get involved, it's no longer so simple.

Toradora

Ryuuji Takasu is a misunderstood guy. Despite his somewhat scary outer appearance due to his intimidating eyes, he's really a gentle dude. He shyly goes to school everyday with his only friend, Yusaku Kitamura, and his secret crush, Minori Kushieda. A new school year marks the return of the Minori's friend, the Palmtop Tiger, Taiga Aisaka, a tiny, doll-like girl who's tough behavior and mean right hook blind people of her vulnerable insides, displayed through her crush on Ryuuji's friend. Taiga and Ryuuji meet in an unfortunate way and agree to help each other get close to their crushes.

*~*(.1.)*~* Watamote

This anime, aka WataMote, short for Watashi ga Motenai no wa Do Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui is undoubtedly in the top 5 of most hilarious anime I've ever seen. Yes. Just yes. The focus is a girl with tons of dating and social experience. 50 school years and at least 100 boys before she's even in high school. Of course, this is only in the Otome gaming world. In real life, Tomoko Kuroki is a 15-year-old shut-in with social skills at absolute 0. She's what the anime refers to as "mojo" or a gloomy and unpopular woman. She has this delusion that when she enters high school, she will be the most popular girl in her grade. Of course, she's confused when that very thing doesn't happen. Every episode, she makes a plan. She'll definitely be popular after this!...or not. Then she's back to the drawing board.

Her attempts at becoming popular are even more ridiculous than the attempts Kotoko in Itazura Na Kiss makes at getting Naoki's love. It hurts so much to watch her try to be social and if you're even a little socially awkward, hermit-like, or friendless, (or full-on Otaku like Tomoko) you'll definitely relate to this anime. If at least one scene doesn't even make you crack a smile, you need to see a doctor.
